Fiber Dye Class at Pomegranate Cafe!

Pomegranate Cafe  and  Chile Acres Farm are teaming up to bring you the  
High Fiber Dye It Class series!  
Over four weeks, learn all you need to get started making your own natural fiber art from the wool of primitive sheep breeds. 

 Classes will run every Thursday through the month of August starting on the 9th from 6:30-8 PM.  The cost for all four classes (with materials) is $250 and includes an organic snack and beverage.  

 

Class Schedule:


Class 1

All About Sheep: In this class students will be introduced to sheep and the rearing and shearing process.  Students will make beautiful handspun yarn.

  • How to select wool.
  • Hands-on processing of wool.
  • Spinning 101.

Class 2

High Fiber Dye-It: Students in this class will learn to dye the yarn they have previously spun; learn

basic techniques for using natural dyes; and how to gather and preparing plants for dying. 

  • Preparing yarn for dye.
  • What dye materials work best and why.
  • Hands- on dying.

Class 3

Weaving Basics:

Students in this class will set up a simple loom (to keep) and learn basic weaving techniques.

  • Choosing a loom.
  • Warp and Weft.
  • Design.

Class 4

Dream Weaver:

Students will learn varied weaving techniques in fiber art on their own looms. 

  • Indigenous techniques.
  • Pictorial weaving.
  • Adding embellishments.
